Solution To Our Problems
Desiring a solution
More people, every day, are saying, "This can't continue, we must fight these problems." We can do more than
protest; we can correct injustice. "We the People" are still the sovereign, the ultimate power in this country. What should we do? Political debates and differences are confusing.
Of the many solutions promoted by political leaders, which ones should we accept? True statesmen and false politicians both
advocate the same good goals. Which course is the one that will really set things straight?
Common Beliefs & Values
People of different political persuasions, of different denominations and nationalities, usually share important common beliefs
and ideals. We believe in a Creator and a moral code of right and wrong. Most believe in fidelity and the standard that says, treat others as you would have them treat you -- that we are judged for our
conduct in this life and live beyond it. We love family and freedom. We expect fellow citizens to show self-restraint and if they do not, we want just courts to intervene. Self-determination,
self-reliance and self-responsibility are cherished over paternalism. We have compassion on, and desire to help, the unfortunate who have handicaps, disease and poverty. These high ideals are
indispensable and give us all the same compass for life.
Lack Of Information Defeats Good Intentions
Since good people share similar values, why do they disagree on political proposals? Even with the best of intentions, "good" people have supported
policies that were actually contrary to their own values
because they lacked necessary information. An example would be any program that has increased its cost far from the original proposal. It would be any program that, unexpectedly, required compliance or restricted choices, damaging individual freedom. Slick speakers and shrewd leaders succeed with bad legislation by promoting good goals. Also, personal attacks divert attention from the issues. Sadly, people often follow the persuasive political debater because it's easy to be misled by a skilled performer. They gain our support but often the bad results of their proposals are discovered years later. Then, the younger generation must suffer the consequences. Throughout history, millions have accepted tyrannical ideas because of expert promoters. However, there have always been some who recognized the harmful ideas, before it became obvious to the majority. How did they do it?
What Should We Do?
Becoming involved to solve problems is a good decision. However, PREPARATION IS ESSENTIAL BEFORE INVOLVEMENT
. If we do not identify the cause of our problems, we will never be able to solve them. Worse yet, we may one-day find that we too,
unintentionally, have been supporting the enemies of freedom. We cannot successfully function as a Realtor, a Builder, a Soldier, or in any other important capacity without first studying and training in
preparation. It's also true, that for us to make wise decisions on government, we need to study the foundations of freedom and tyranny. Without this information, good people, unknowingly, continue to act
contrary to their own beliefs. National and local problems remain unfixed because we have a need. Our need, in this Nation today, was voiced by our third president and author of the Declaration of
Independence, Thomas Jefferson:
"If a nation expects to be ignorant and free, it expects what never was and never will be. [We must] educate and inform the whole mass of the people, they are the only sure reliance for the
preservation of our liberty."
What Do We Need To Understand?
What is it that the "whole mass of the people" must be informed
of? Firstly, this: We must clearly understand the Principles of freedom. These correct principles are the LINK
between God's perfect law and man's best law. They date back to before time and are eternal. They form the foundation of a free society and are above partisan politics. Today, many of our citizens have been deprived of this knowledge. The reasons vary. Traditional educational institutions no longer teach them. The entertainment and news media often promote their own agenda of harmful ideas. Inherited lies lead us to accept principles of tyranny, in place of the principles of freedom. There are many that are kept from the truth because they do not know where to find it.
The principles that made our Country remarkable are being forgotten. We've stopped living them, lost our faith in them, no
longer know them. Not knowing the principles of freedom subjects us to being misled. Knowing them, gives us the standard we need, to measure political ideas and proposals. What are these
principles? We understand them when we acquire:
